Hail and Farewell, Friends. A few words from our staff team as the Final generation comes to a close, we we end the Wiki.

From Nults McKagan, Administrator[]

It's no secret the GFW has basically been gone for a couple years now. I accepted that the end arrived a long time ago, but seeing our mostly-inactive discord channel finally being erased still fills me with a sense of bittersweet nostalgia. I spent a great deal of my teenage years on the GFW/PPW playing POTCO, Minecraft, and everything else we all liked to play together. When I first joined the wiki in 2011, I was mainly just expecting to write some fun stories and do some goofy things with the POTCO community. I never expected to make such close friends as I did, but I'm pretty damn happy it turned out this way. There was definitely some drama and toxicity at times (in no small part thanks to me; sorry about that), but I still cherish the time we all spent together on the wiki and in the games. To get way too real for a moment, I do believe my life may have gone down a dark path if it weren't for the wiki keeping me occupied. To all of you: for your friendship and the fond memories you've bestowed upon me, I am eternally grateful. This may be the formal end of the POTCO Players Wiki/Gamers Fanon Wiki, but it is far from the end of the community we've fostered over the years. As a matter of fact, I'd say it's only the beginning. I look forward to the future memories I'll be creating with you lot in the years to come.

The Gamers Fanon Wiki is no more. The GFW has been disbanded. The POTCO Players Wiki shall remain eternal no matter the tyrannical abuse of Wikia, Inc. who have ushered forward an era of frustration and incompetence. We reject their evils they have forced upon us undemocratically for we are free and we are proud of that freedom. Fandom will not replace us. Fandom will not replace us. Fandom will not replace us. The Jedi Archives will be protected. The scrolls of the dead shall remain preserved. All the good times and all the cringe times shall remain in perpetuity preserved for all in the future may return to on holy pilgrimage to experience the sacraments of sacred nostalgia. Where here a many Great Libraries of Alexandria have perished and burned away with such knowledge and history lost to time through closures and deletions alike, our great library shall remain. It has been my esteemed honour to serve this great establishment through the Presidents of Parax, G-man., and Lord Andrew Mallace.

What can be said about a simple website that has changed so much over the years, not to mention how it has changed its users? There's been a litany of collaborative stories which have withstood the test of time; ill-conceived plots to take over the bureaucracy; infamous attempts to splinter off and create something new. And yet here we are, so many years later, still standing and still united as a community despite all that we've lost over the years. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing - but it has meant everything to us, and I believe we will carry the wiki with us wherever we go. Not because it was special or uniquely enduring, but because it was ours. I, for one, am proud to have been a part of this strange and beautiful adventure.

From Ned Edgewalker, Administrator:[]

“You’ll always be a part of me. You gave me a song to sing... You’ll always be a part of me. Some wounds will always sting, forever in full bloom... Summer days are growing colder, we’ll know better when we’re older.”

- The Midnight, Memories

For someone who has attempted to leave this community for attention unsuccessfully for the better part of a decade, I’m surprisingly speechless sitting down to write this. How do I put the last ten years of my life into a couple of paragraphs?

I was 11 years old when I joined this community (sorry, wikia ToS). Alone, with no friends except the ones I made on POTCO, I turned to this community. And everyone hated me. But alas, I stuck around and somehow ten years go by, I’m a 21-year-old man and have made lifelong friends on that same website that probably would’ve preferred at the time that I didn’t join it.

I’ve expressed my gratitude for this community in detail in previous blogs, specifically my blog “Happy Birthday, GFW” from 2019 – so I’ll not get too sappy here.

This is the fucking end. I’m happy to be one of many who can keep the community alive and well in a way with Outrun Games – with it, our community has been granted yet another new lease on life, and only time will tell how long that lasts, too.

Instead of being sappy, I’d like to be optimistic and say that our community is still alive and well – but this chapter is finally coming to a peaceful, well-deserved close.

To close, I’d like to give a heart-filled thank you to my friend, our community President Mallace, for his leadership and guidance over the past five years. We all are rooting for you to succeed and unironically become the real President of the United States one day – don’t forget us when you’re famous. A very sizeable chunk of my favourite gaming memories over the past ten years have been with you, and they’ll not be lost on me anytime soon.

Thanks, GFW – we had a good run.

So here we are.

First, I found this picture on one of my popular drama blogs and found it fitting as we drift into uncharted waters as adults… given that most us arrived here before we were allowed to drive.

I’ve been saying “and we’re still here!” in some form since about 2015. Every song has been sung. Every tale has been told.

New adventures are on the horizon over at Outrun games – a small yet promising establishment founded by no other than our very own Captain Ned Edgewalker. There, you’ll find remnants of our community have blossomed into a solid group of guys’ bein dudes. And Rose.

I joined the wiki by accident; I reached out to Benjamin Macmorgan a few months after Captain Andrew, my original pirate, was terminated. I reached out to him… on youtube. He mentioned in August of 2011 that the “POTCO people” had joined a new site and that I should check it out. TheDeceasedCaptain was born on 11 August 2011… and you know the rest.

I made my first 4,000 edits in my first 4 months. The next 6,000 came over the following decade. From promotions and demotions, user rights’, voting changes, councils, and even new game requests, I was there to say something mildly irritating and with contempt toward someone else. In 2012, Jerry and I founded the BNO – an organization hell-bent on gaining influence by pushing the rules just far enough to keep us out of trouble while pushing for a decentralization of power. The funny thing was, it worked. It just so happened that most of us outlasted everyone else and got promoted into the swamp for it to matter in the end.

We’ve been inactive for a while now. I’ve made my goodbyes and farewells across several blogs over the last few years for any more of them to matter. This generation was named the final generation for a reason. Let’s raise a glass one last time to the site that we’d rush home from school to visit; to the chatroom we’d yearn to join; and to the drama we’d love to cause. Thank you, POTCO Players Wiki, for giving young Andrew a home. Thank you for the friends along the way. But most importantly, thanks for teaching me what a conniving little bastard I could really be. I wish I was kidding when I said I still employ tactics I used In wikia comments/votes to my IRL job today. I really wish I was.

So that’s all folks. We’ll be shutting down the discord, but this wikia will be here until Fandom shuts it down. Enjoy yourselves as you come back here, months or years from now, to find that one page from that one time with that one joke. Or laugh at the EITC’s existence. Or the fact we thought we really were a part of it. It took 9 brethren courts for Outrun games to figure out who it was – it only took the EITC 3 months to discover we were disturbingly powerful pricks. To those who edited here, thank you for your service. To those who stayed until the end, I’ll always love you as much as this platform allows me to.

All the best, now and forever,

Andrew
